Martin y Ferrera entre los hispanos más influyentes

MEXICO (AP) - El cantante Ricky Martin y la actriz América Ferrera son algunos de los 15 hispanos más influyentes en Estados Unidos, según un listado recopilado por la revista People en Español que destaca a ambos en sus portadas.

La publicación reconoce además a cantantes como Shakira y Juanes, las productoras Carla Estrada y María López Álvarez, así como el periodista Jorge Ramos.

La selección se hizo luego de una reunión en la que se evaluó lo más importante ocurrido el año pasado, los éxitos logrados por cada uno de los representantes de la cultura latina y "quién nos representa de verdad porque esta ahí cada vez que la gente los necesita'' al involucrarse en actividades caritativas, indicó la editora en entrevista telefónica desde Nueva York.

"Hay muchísimos más que nos hubiese encantado incluir... pero hay un límite de páginas'', reconoció.

Aranguez destacó además que los hispanos son una parte importante de Estados Unidos.

"Estamos haciendo muchísimas cosas y hay que celebrarlo y esta (edición) es una manera de hacerlo y transmitirlo al público''.

Tan sólo el último año, Ricky Martin logró una estrella en el Paseo de la Fama de Hollywood, la distinción a la máxima excelencia en los Premios Lo Nuestro y dos Latin Grammy al mejor álbum pop masculino y mejor video versión larga por su "MTV Unplugged''.

"Lo único que he hecho en los últimos 25 años es trabajar'', dijo Martin, de 36 años, según People.

"Todo lo que hago lo hago con amor y pasión'', expresó al develarse su estrella.

Además, el astro puertorriqueño este año se dedicará de lleno a las labores humanitarias a través de su fundación homónima, que fundó en el 2000 con el fin de ayudar a los niños de todo el mundo.

Por su parte Ferrera, protagonista de la exitosa versión anglo de "Betty la fea'' y ganadora de un Globo de Oro y un premio del Sindicato de Actores de la Pantalla, entre otros, sigue cosechando triunfos y se ha convertido en un ejemplo para la comunidad latina joven.

"Espero representarme de una manera respetable, inspirar a la gente joven para que se respeten y que sigan sus sueños, que crean en sí mismos'', dijo la actriz de origen hondureño a la revista, al tiempo en que apoya la campaña presidencial de la senadora demócrata Hillary Clinton.

Los colombianos Shakira y Juanes también han revolucionado con su música y sus esfuerzos altruistas en favor de la niñez y de la víctimas de la guerra civil en su país, respectivamente, destaca la revista, cuya edición especial de los latinos más influyentes saldrá a la venta el 3 de marzo.
