AOL Latino, October 24, 2007 - 'Desperate Housewives' star Eva Longoria is taking her husband Tony Parker's surname and wants to be called now Eva Longoria Parker.

The Latin actress, 32, is sticking to American tradition, and has decided to take another step in her relationship with the NBA basketball star and decided to add his surname to her stage name. From now on, she will be referred to as Eva Longoria Parker.

Last week, Longoria hosted an annual benefit in Los Angeles called "Padres Contra el Cáncer" (Parents Against Cancer), with George Lopez.

"I completely adopted the new name and I love it. I'm a Parker now! And I love every bit of it," Longoria said during the event. "I like the tradition of changing the name. I've been getting used to being called Mrs. Parker for a while now, it's really nice to hear. Especially in Texas, everyone is really respectful there".

It's a different tradition in Latin America, where wives normally keep their maiden name. In some countries, they would add a "de" (of) and then add the husband's surname. In this case, it would be Eva Longoria de Parker.

Longoria Parker was also asked if they were planning on having a baby, to which she replied: "Not for me, and not for Gabrielle".

She also visited Mexico last week for a private fashion event, where she also discussed becoming a parent. Mrs. Parker stated that Marc Cherry, creator of 'Desperate Housewives' has asked her to wait until next year, so that he can write her pregnancy into the story of Season 5 of the hit show.
