Documentos de la corte indican que Brumfield dijo a los investigadores que la bebé que murió cuando estaba a su cuidado en octubre actuó con normalidad y comió bananas tras caerse de un corral y golpearse la cabeza. Pero los detectives creen que la versión de Brumfield no concuerda con las lesiones de la niña.

No estuvo claro de inmediato si Brumfield tenía un abogado. Las autoridades carcelarias no respondieron de inmediato un mensaje telefónico la mañana del jueves.

El publicista de Thornton dijo que el actor no hablado con Brumfield en años.
